Undelete Plus is a program designed to recover accidentally deleted files. For example, if you removed a file from your recycle bin, or used Window’s force delete option. It works under most new Windows operating systems with almost all the current file allocation types, including NTFS, NTFS5, FAT12, FAT16 and FAT32.

Undelete Plus can not only recover files from your hard drive but also recover files that you’ve deleted from your from CompactFlash, SmartMedia, MultiMedia or Secure Digital card.

Recovery Methods

Undelete Plus has 2 main recovery methods if you’re formatting a FAT32 drive, like a flash drive or SD card. The first is standard recovery; this method is fast, but can only recover files that have not been fragmented. The only way you can even be remotely sure that your file was not fragmented is if you created the file recently, or if your hard drive has had a recent format. We recommend that you use the smart method, which will recover fragmented files.

If you are recovering a file on an NTSF drive you are not given the option of which method to use.

Performance

For every file that Undelete Plus sees it gives a file damage rating, which gives you an indication of weather or not the file can actually be recovered. Undelete Plus recovered all the files in our tests without any problems. The recovery process was fairly fast.

To ensure best performance the developers recommend you do not perform recovery on the same hard drive you are currently running your operating system on.

Conclusions

Undelete Plus is able to recover deleted files. If you have accidentally deleted a file from your hard drive then you owe it to yourself to at least give it a try.
